A Blessing In Disguise
06.26.04 (11:36 pm)   [edit]
Hooray! The hair is saved and a new look is born! :D My hip new 'do is shorter but way awesome. Oh, and I almost forgot: I got the job at American Eagle!!! New job, new hair...new boyfriend? Life is good. :)

I got together with a good old pal tonight, Rachel. I'm slowly coming out of my hermit cave and being social; my elite and exclusive group of friends is slowly expanding.

Nothing else major going on except the job and Adam and I are doing this ballroom dance thing on Monday night so I'm super psyched. Yeah, that's it.

Totally Pissed...
06.25.04 (1:50 pm)   [edit]
So I go in to get my hair cut this morning (they didn't have enough time to do it two weeks ago b/c my hair took so long to color), and they were going to comp it b/c of the previous circumstance (in parentheses). When I got home I straightened it out with my flat iron (and they know at the salon that I almost always wear my hair straight) and lo and behold, IT'S MOTHER EFFING CROOKED AND COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ON BOTH SIDES IN THE FRONT!!! It was so bad I couldn't fix it. Needless to say, I'm pretty pissed right now BUT I just called and got an appointment for tomorrow morning at 9 a.m., which means I have to get up early on a Saturday. :( Good thing is I don't have to work until 2 but I was really looking forward to sleeping in. I'm just full of complaints today. I love my hair and this really depresses me. Call me vain, whatever, but my hair is the crowning glory to my whole look and I can't afford a shitty 'do.

I think I'm also think some good lovin' would do me good...like that's gonna happen! :D

More Movie Reviews
06.23.04 (11:20 am)   [edit]
Stepford Wives- I went into this movie expecting the worst because of the many sour reports I had received about it. After the movie is over, my mom and I look at each other and are all like, "WTF were they all thinking?!" It was great! Get this people: it was supposed to be lighthearted, corny, and a parody of the original. I think many went into this expecting this dark, suspenseful thriller film when they actually received the opposite. I can see where one would have this preconception because of the stellar cast, thinking they would never do a movie like this. Anyway, this movie had a great mix of comedy, thrills, and even frills. I loved the ending, too. I thought for sure it was going to end on a bad note (like the original) but the writers throw a curveball to the audience with this one. Please, people, give this movie a chance, no matter what you've heard. And for those who didn't like it, see it again with what I've told you in mind. Besides, Christopher Walken can make any movie at least semi-decent (remember The Rundown?). :D I give this one 7 out of 10 stars.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban- First of all, I want to give this movie a rating of TFA: TOTALLY FREAKING AWESOME!!! :D The new direction by Alfonso Cuaron was amazing! It was so dark, nothing like the two previous more kiddie-ish films. And the camera shots! /proceeds to writhe in ecstasy in chair while typing this  I can't even use words right now to describe the phenomenal cinematography in this movie. It was also way scary in some parts, especially with the werewolf. I forgot that they're on my list of things I fear but this movie reminded me. The cast ( a TON of famous British actors, all of whom I know from those movies and shows I watch while I obsess about becoming a Brit :)) was well chosen and, even in smaller parts, added so much to this dynamic work. I noticed that the makers added a lot more...color to the film, you know, ehnicity. It was great but I was all like, "Wow, they never had all those kids in Harry Potter's class before." Daniel Radcliffe is growing up to be such a freakin' hottie! He'll be 15 on July 23rd, closer to legal! :D I had a hard time concentrating sometimes because I was fantasizing about the cast, not only Daniel, but the twins who played Ron's older brothers got hot, and I've always had a secret crush on Alan Rickman (he's not underage, he's 58!). :) This is a must-see for everyone, even non-Potter fans; this is much more adult than the other two. I give it a 8.5. 8)

So what's up with me? Not too much (as usual), just catching up with some old friends and working and whatnot. I'm super psyched to be going to New York, less than a month! :D Other than that, I'm bored.

Hey Baby, What's Your Sign?
06.20.04 (10:12 am)   [edit]
I haven't posted lately b/c I've been working and whatnot and have had nothing interesting to post.

A lot of people think astrology is crap and I beg to differ. I don't read my horoscope or base my life on the zodiac but I think that there are a lot of similarities between people and their signs. For instance, astrologers say that a Scorpio (me)/Libra match is volatile, well they were right. How do I know? I've dated 3+ Libras and it was the same problems with all of them (I've learned my lesson, though). Now, you may think you don't possess all of the characteristics and qualities of your sign, don't start doubting this stuff already. Find out your Rising and Moon signs because they also have a lot to do with aspects of your personality. You can get your chart done for free at www.astro.com. At least do it for fun so you have some knowledge of the whole thing if it ever comes up in conversation and you wanna act like you know what you're talking about.

Has anyone seen Joe Schmo 2? I can't belive this show! It's such a joke (it's supposed to be) and the two people who aren't in on the joke are idiots. I love it! So, for anyone who hasn't seen it (they've only aired the first episode) it's on Spike TV and being shown on MTV also.

More Fun Facts
06.17.04 (10:49 am)   [edit]
I'm off work the next two days (yess!) but I have to close Saturday night (:(). And, yes, tonight is Ybor night...again. I feel like such a loser, lol, we go every week! But it is a lot of fun and we have a bunch of people going with us tonight. Besides, where else would I go? BayWalk isn't cool to hang out at and there's no way I'd go to any of those hardcore clubs in Ybor. I'm a creature of habit. :)

Okay, on with the fun, it's More Fun Facts time!!! :D
11. Some people are addicted to cigarettes or drugs, I'm addited to coffee. I should just pump it into my body w/ an IV.

"Day After Tomorrow" Review
06.15.04 (11:08 am)   [edit]
There are three things that I fear most: robots, zombies, and Mother Nature. Why? Because they're unstoppable! But I am most fascinated with the things I fear. I love disaster movies and The Day After Tomorrow is now on the list of my favorites. At first, I didn't like that it wasn't like other disaster films because it didn't have an exorbitant amount of crazy action scenes and, in disaster movies, there's always something the protagonist uses to save the day and this movie had no answer to the impending doom. But, the lack of action gave way to more character and plot development (a plus) so the audience can relate with the main characters. And it made sense that there was no way to prevent disaster because, realistically, there would be no way to prevent that stuff. I guess those other movies give us a false sense of hope in case anything like that ever happened. There were only a few things I thought were kind of stupid to put in the movie, like the chick getting blood poisoning and the part with the wolves. I think the filmmakers were trying to put more obstacles in the film that were not really needed; they were pulling for more crap going wrong for the protagonists. Though I didn't agree with those elements being thrown in, I do like that they didn't put them in "deus ex machina" style, where something not present before in the movie comes in and causes more problems or saves the day; they used good foreshadowing. My most favorite part of the movie: Jake Gyllenhaal in his boxers! :D My mom was just happy in the end that the homeless guy's dog lived. What a sap. Overall, I give this movie 8.5 out of 10 stars.

Now, the previews I saw during this move:
-I, Robot: Another movie w/ things I'm scared of b/c they could take over the world!!! This movie looks kickass and I hope it doesn't end up sucking. :)
-Cellular: Can we say Phonebooth ripoff? It looks good, but looks can be very deceiving. I'm unsure of the movie b/c I'm unsure of the cast, Kim Basinger is the only big name in it. The hot guy from Not Another Teen Movie is in it so you know I'll be seeing it.
-Dodgeball: Another funny movie with Vince Vaughn? I'll be seeing it.
-Open Water: I'm not sure of this one. Looks like a scary version of Castaway.

What am I up to? Let's see....A WHOLE LOT OF NOTHING. Lol, not really. I'm going in for an interview this afternoon then I'll be working until 10 (which means I'm closing. I hate closing). Working tomorrow afternoon...doing the Ybor thing again Thursday night. Nothing major.

*As you all can hear/see, I added a music thingy to this. Please let me know if it causes problems in loading the page or anything. If you just think it's annoying, press the 'stop' button. I'll periodically change the songs so it doesn't get too annoying. Plus, I'll get annoyed w/ it in a while so it won't be up forever. :D*

Lindsay Lohan Night
06.12.04 (10:24 pm)   [edit]
Tonight on SNL is the Lindsay Lohan rerun episode! It has the super funny sleepover sketch w/ Amy Poehler!!! Needless to say, I'll be taping it. :) Heidi and I will be performing that awesome sketch at our upcoming show in August (I'll keep y'all posted on the date). Anyway, I'm in tonight (surprise), just chilling and doing stuff w/ mum. Nothing special. And work was actually okay today. I kinda had fun, even with all the crazy people...that work there.

Magical Nights
06.11.04 (12:07 pm)   [edit]
Ooh, last night was soo much fun! The best night we've had at The Castle yet. First, we went to Gameworks (ladies' night, $10- all-you-can-play) and had a fun time playing DDR and the horse riding game (it's like the real thing ), then we headed over to The Castle and the party was jumpin' when we got there. There were, like, 9 people I knew there so I got my schmooze thang on. :) We then proceeded to dance the night away, without a care in the world. It's so therapeutic. :D

Tonight I shall be working until after we close. It doesn't ruin my Friday night, but I'll probably take it easy and stay in tonight anyway.

Alright, here's a new feature on my blog: "Fun Facts About Katie!" (not to be confused with "Random Fun Facts", okay?) Because why not write about my favorite subject? Me! :D
1. My middle name is Alison. Note the one 'l'.
2. My little sister's nickname for me is "Stank".
3. I have a thing for crappy '80s music.
4. My eyes are different colors.
5. I wish I had a time machine, like in Back to the Future.
6. I love EPCOT.
7. My ears are crooked.
8. My other best friend goes to NYU.
9. If I had to sleep with one celebrity, it'd probably be Colin Firth...or maybe Daniel Radcliffe.
10. Tears For Fears is my favoritest band ever.

Shining Ray of Hope
06.10.04 (2:03 pm)   [edit]
So, I've expressed in this (I think?) the current crap I've been going through at my new job: crappy hours and being on-call all the time. And I wasn't told this is how things were gonna go down there at the time I was hired (so, hired under false pretenses), and so that screwed up my chances for all the other jobs I applied for (I had to turn them down for this place:evil:). ANYWAY...I've got a second chance with American Eagle!!! I called them, told them what was up, and asked if they were still hiring and now I have an interview (the first one of their batch of new hires). And, if the interview goes well, I could be hired that day! :D So I am SUPER psyched!!! A weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I was feeling depressed lately (partially b/c of the job situation, the other part I can't reveal in the blog b/c I've learned that I can't put any of my deep personal life stuff) but now I'm feeling a lot better. Let's just hope and pray I get this job.

Oh, also...I might be going to New York for a week in July and spending most of it w/ Heidi in NYC. If everything works out w/ the job and they let me go, that is. :)

Beach Day!
06.09.04 (5:29 am)   [edit]
Finally I get some quality beach time! My roomies and I (well, ex-roomies now), Megs and Laura, and Laura's cousin Ben are going surfing in St. Auggie today. And I'm praying that it doesn't rain. I had to get up at 5:45 this morning to get ready for this!!! :) So, as I sit here eating my Cheerios w/ freeze-dried strawberries and bananas and chugging coffee, I shall check on the weather and surf reports. I should be back tonight about 9, if not earlier. See y'all later! :D

Heyna or No?
06.07.04 (2:38 pm)   [edit]
Ugh! I couldn't go to my friggin' other job interview today (not that I wanna work there anyway), so I'm a bit peeved. On the plus side, I may be back in w/ American Eagle.

Last night was terrible at work- I had to do manual labor for 3 hours by stocking and moving crap. See, I used to go into the Disney Store (yes, that's where I work) and look at Plush Mountain in the back and say to myself, "Dang, I feel bad for whoever has to straighten that up!" Well guess who had to last night? THE WHOLE FRIGGIN THING!!! Oh, and there are certain specific sections for the different characters: Mickey and the "Fab Five", Pooh and friends, and "Disney Classic Pals". Barf! I will never look at Disney plush toys the same way again. I really hope this doesn't kill the Disney magic for me. :?

Other than that...Tiff, myself, and a bunch of people should be going to The Castle tonight, so that's exciting. I'm trying to think of anything else interesting to write, but.....nope, I've got nothing. That's it. Ciao!

Man, last night was sooo much fun! Tiff and I went to dinner at Stump's Supper Club at Channelside in Tampa and then we went to Gameworks in Ybor and played DDR. And I picked up a guy for Tiff. She should let me pick out her boy toys more often. Super fun time.

I also bought a very embarrassing cd last night (another guilty pleasure :)), Where We Belong by Boyzone. I think that was their only cd. They were an Irish boy band whose only hot member turned out to be gay. They had a few hits, including "No Matter What", as heard on the Notting Hill soundtrack. Super good. Their velvet voices and smooth lyrics touch me in places I've never been touched before.

Work went okay but I'm not getting near enough hours. I got a call for an interview at another retail place so I'm going to see how that goes. I'm going out tonight with Megs, Laura, her cousin, and the French foreign exchange student Laura (whose dad is a famous director in France), we'll probably check out the karaoke scene. I am so gonna show off my rapping skills and do "Shake Your Tailfeather", lol.8) That's it for now. Chizow! :D

Happy Birthday, Tony Curtis!
06.03.04 (1:59 pm)   [edit]
Today is Tony Curtis' 79th birthday! For those of you who don't know who he is, I'll give you the lowdown. Tony Curtis (born Bernard Schwartz in 1925) is a famous Hollywood actor who appeared in many classic films in the '50s and '60s, including: Spartacus, Sex and the Single Girl, and, my all-time favorite movie ever- Some Like It Hot (w/ Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon; named #1 Comedy of all time by the American Film Institute). That movie is so hilarious and has, what I think, the steamiest kissing scenes in any movie ever. :D
Tony Curtis' first wife was Janet Leigh (the chick who got stabbed in the shower in Psycho) and they had two children, the first being famous actress Jamie Lee Curtis (the Halloween movies, True Lies, Freaky Friday). She is a hermaphrodite and married to Christopher Guest (Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind). He has since been married four other times (his current wife being 45 years his junior) and has six children. He is a pimp. 8)
Tony was a major hottie in his prime (hey, I'd do him ), though he's now a flamboyant, eccentric old man. I had the pleasure of seeing him in person on New Year's Day 2003, when he starred in the musical version of Some Like It Hot.

Guilty Pleasures
06.02.04 (11:07 am)   [edit]
Today, I've decided to dedicate this post to my deep inner workings, the methods behind my madness...my guilty pleasures. And I had no other ideas for today, lol. I'm going to come clean. :D

-Elton John: /sigh, simply put- he's amazing.
-Crappy '80s music: I'm not talking about all '80s music, just certain bad songs I enjoy, such as "Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora :)
-Wearing my birthday pin from EPCOT every time I go there...when it's not my birthday. (Hey, I got a free cake last time in Germany, lol)
-The soundtrack from A Walk to Remember...even though I refuse to watch the movie for fear of actually feeling emotion. :)
-Clay Aiken: duh, y'all already knew that one!
-Taking my pillow (w/ Hello Kitty pillowcase), baby blanket, and Monkey whenever I travel (meaning: overnight stays)
-Stealing babies: 'nuff said. :D
-South of the Border in Dillon, SC: The tackiest, trashiest tourist spot in the U.S. (And I will be staying in the Honeymoon Suite  )
-Picking up trashy romance novels when no one is looking and reading the back covers.
-Going out in public without a stitch of makeup and wearing my glasses: Must I be an object of desire every time I go out? (j/k, I'm not that vain.)
-Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), that kid from the live action Peter Pan, and Andy Lawrence: underage and yummy.
-Secretly wishing I could sing well enough to make the top 5 or whatever on American Idol: maybe I'd get to meet Clay then, too! :D
-Using astrology as a vehicle for conversation: I'm somewhat knowledgeable and it's really hot when a guy actually is into it too!
-Karaoke: even when I'm by myself.
-Underwear.
-Walking around in nothing but my underwear.
-Posting in my blog almost every day: I love that people actually read it, I didn't know so many were interested in the stupid crap I post. Well, most just want dirt on me.

Alright, that's it for now, until I can think of more. Leave me comments of your crazy guilty pleasures, my faithful readers (you don't have to be a member to post one). Ta ta for now! :D

Happy Joon!
06.01.04 (8:10 pm)   [edit]
Hooray, it's June! Already?! I kicked off this month by starting my new ultra cool, super fun job. Yes, Katie has a job and it's not at the movie theater, lol. This place is right up my alley.

Ooh, tonight on Bravo is the first episode of the second season of Queer Eye! So that's what I'm doing right now- staying in (big surprise) and being entertained by good-looking gay men. :D Oh well...I'll be getting that car soon which means I can go out and hang out by myself.

Alright, that's all for now. I'm going to fill the rest of my night with some Adult Swim, maybe some Talk Sex with Sue Johansen, and chatting it up with a fun pal. :)

Thom: "And we're laying in some random guy's bed..."
Carson: "Yeah, feels like old times. Good times, good times."
